Junk texts.
Screened
before you
see them.
TextMeNot is a messaging app for Android that quietly sets aside scams, ads, and political spam. Every decision is made on your phone.

You blocked one.
They sent five more.
Blocking numbers is a losing game; the number changes every day. TextMeNot screens on what the message says and how it is shaped, so a new number sending an old scam never makes it to your inbox.
Final reminder: you have an unpaid toll balance of $6.99. To avoid a $50 late fee pay now at ezpass-ny.top/pay
Why: unpaid toll lure, lookalike link, suspicious domain
We're $50,000 short of our end-of-month goal. Can you chip in $25 before midnight? Reply STOP to end
Why: fundraising language, deadline pressure, opt-out footer
Hi, this is Mike with Apex Roofing. We're in your neighborhood this week doing free roof inspections after the storm. Reply YES to schedule.
Why: home-services solicitation, lead question, first contact
The number is the junk score: how sure the app is, from 0 to 100, with the reasons shown every time.
Three steps.
Then silence.
01
Make it your messaging app
Android only lets your default messaging app decide what you see. TextMeNot is a complete SMS and MMS app, so nothing about texting changes except the junk.
02
Every unknown sender gets checked
Messages from your contacts, threads you have replied to, and one-time codes are delivered instantly. Everything else runs through the screener, on the phone.
03
Junk goes to Screened, silently
No ping, no badge on your inbox. The Screened tab shows what was set aside, its score, and why. Restore anything with one tap. Nothing is deleted on arrival.
It learns your phone.
And everyone else's.
What the message says
Toll lures, package holds, wrong-number openers, job offers, roof inspections, fundraising deadlines. Patterns, not keywords.
What your phone knows
Senders you kept, senders you reported, how often a kind of sender turns out to be junk for you. All of it stays on the device.
What the database knows
Fingerprints of known junk campaigns ship inside the app, and reported domains follow once reporting goes live. No message text ever travels in either direction.
Calls too.
Calls from numbers that fail carrier verification, or that sent you junk texts, ring silently and show up in the Calls tab. Everyone in your contacts rings normally. No uploading your call history.
Private by
construction.
Decided on the phone
The screener runs on your device. The current app makes no network connections at all; an optional cloud second opinion is planned, off by default, with a toggle that says exactly what is sent.
Contacts never leave
Contacts are read only to know who to trust. They are never uploaded or stored by the app.
No ads, no trackers
No advertising SDK, no analytics, no crash reporter in the app. What you see is what runs.
Switch back any time
Messages live in Android's own message store. Set another app as default and every message is still there.

Free to start.
Cheap to keep.
Every three months you get 20 screened texts and 20 screened calls free. After that, screening pauses until the next period or until you pick a plan. The messaging app itself keeps working either way.

Google does not let other apps use RCS chat. While TextMeNot is your messaging app, you send and receive SMS and MMS. Read why there is no RCS.
